I administered at a facility for a while but had to step away for a bit. In my absence TTS was brought in to maintain certain duties and ensure that our network was up. Overall it wasn't a difficult task but there were complications.

They immediately started pulling equipment from our facility and claimed that it was inoperative and that we needed replacements. A good example would be our UPS system. Our extremely reliable and frequently serviced rack-UPS tower completely disappeared and was replaced with two small consumer UPS devices. Another instance of this happening was with our firewall. I suppose they are not familiar with Cisco PIX because I was asked how to access it. Telnet was way above their head because they immediately put in a new device with a nice and cushy GUI. It seemed like we were receiving invoices every week for something else.

When we had any actual issues with the systems they would be called out to look at it and then give up and not have an answer. Their technicians looked very inexperienced and lacked the ability to problem solve. The person who arrives to the site usually installs TeamViewer and then makes a call to the guy who's going to fix it. So in actuality the "Technician" is really just a sales representative. I have a great example of their lack of problem solving skills: They were asked to unblock a website on a machine that I had at some point blocked. (It was an innocent request from an employee to a tech that was already there) this ended up being an unnecessary controversy that was a factor in a series of issues that ultimately lead to them being dismissed. The website was blocked from the host file. (now you know) They could not figure out this problem. It was explained to our facility that I must have "hacked" the systems and done something that they were unaware of. While my supervisors and I sat around laughing that one off and counting the ever growing stack of invoices from TTS, they gave us the impression that their entire company was stumped on this problem, their technician was on the phone for hours...

I could go on even longer, the point is they are going to play you and attempt to sell you something new, especially if they are not familiar with the original system. Their technicians can't answer questions because they are actually sales reps. with a childish fascination of placing non-removable stickers on just about anything that's flat.

All that being said, they will probably make your stuff work. They were pretty friendly and responsive to requests. It's difficult to find the perfect balance of friendly and informative.

A follow up years later: this business called me several times since my departure for help and are just as clueless as they were then. Not sure if they are still in business but I can assure you that the do not deserve it. These people sell equipement, not answers.
