If empathy were a skill, Ashish Patel would be the case study for its absence. In a moment where compassion, listening, and human decency were needed most, he chose to pathologize pain, prescribe diagnoses, and assert control. Rather than extending kindness or curiosity, he weaponized language in a way that felt more like a verdict than a conversation.

This wasn’t an act of concern— it was ego cloaked in authority. He spoke not as a brother, but as a self-appointed judge, jury, and psychiatrist, reducing lived experience to bullet points and complex trauma to “poor decisions.”

True empathy requires vulnerability, patience, and the ability to hold space for someone else’s truth. Unfortunately, none of those traits were present here.

If you’re looking for empathy, look elsewhere. This is a cautionary tale of what happens when intellect outpaces emotional intelligence—and how deeply that can wound.
