UPDATE to Original Review (in response to R&D Motors’ reply):

I want to publicly address the owner’s response to my review, which attempts to deflect accountability with false claims and selective information.

Let me be very clear: I never tampered with the GPS tracker. The dealership was directly informed by Mercedes-Benz of the tracking device’s faulty installation, which caused over $6,000 in damage to my vehicle over the course of ownership—confirmed in writing by Mercedes and acknowledged by R&D staff at the time. Gabby personally apologized and said the owner would reimburse me. She even requested Mercedes send her the confirmation email directly, which they did. After that, no one followed up, and suddenly I was told I could no longer make payments because only Gabby could handle my account—and Gabby was suddenly “on vacation,” “out for a family emergency,” or “no longer with the company,” depending on who I spoke with.

I called repeatedly with no responses. When I finally spoke to Celinda in January, she confirmed Rosie was gone and that Gabby would handle everything once she returned. I asked to pay the car off in full and was told I’d need to wait for Gabby. After calling dozens of times with no response, my vehicle was wrongfully repossessed—despite my consistent attempts to resolve everything.

Even worse, they sent a certified letter the next day stating intent to sell my car—sent to my new address in North Carolina, where I had never received any prior communication. If, as they claim, they were unaware of my move, how did they know where to send the letter?

When I showed up in person weeks later, Gabby was at the dealership, despite everyone telling me she was still out. I have this on video. She was visibly shaken and apologized again, saying she just returned and knew nothing about the repossession. (allegedly).

I did eventually pay off the vehicle—in full—and they still have not reimbursed me for the GPS-related damages, have not returned my functioning key fob, and have not taken responsibility for the condition the vehicle was returned in (damaged, missing some parts, and with chalk markings on the windows that detailing professionals cannot remove).

I reached out to the owner privately and was met with an aggressive, unprofessional, and personal insult: he told me I had “no backbone” and mocked me for calling from a blocked number—after months of him refusing to answer me from an unblocked one. I calmly explained the situation again and provided full proof: screenshots from Mercedes, communication logs, call records, and a timeline of everything. He left the messages on read and never responded.

Let me be clear: this is not about missed payments. This is about intentional deception, failure to communicate, refusal to process payments, and an apparent setup to repossess and resell my vehicle while pocketing the $20,000+ I put into it through payments and maintenance.

I am a loyal, returning customer who once respected this business. I have good credit these days, a six-figure income, and zero reason to default on my obligations. I’ve kept every receipt, voicemail, screenshot, and written record. If they truly believed their side of the story, they would have spoken to me directly and handled this professionally.

Instead, they chose to post a misleading public reply, recruit suspicious five-star reviews, and insult me behind the scenes.

Unless they issue a proper correction, reimbursement, and formal apology, this will be handled by my attorney and relevant state authorities in 48 hours.

Although my letter arrives a little behind schedule, however, it arrives with my most sincere expression of gratitude and appreciation.

I am still pleasantly surprised and amazed at how seamlessly smooth and worry free my purchases have been. Over the years I have bought many cars from Rob and the crew, and something always brings me back. This place is like positive gravity...and that is saying a lot because I live on the far west side of San Antonio, and I still make the greater than 2 hour drive just to come here.

To Ray and Barry: your knowledge, expertise and customer service are second to none. You consistently provide the impeccable professionalism and unquestionable loyalty and the highest level of integrity possible. Loyalty and trust are both earned, not freely given...and that is through deeds not good salesmanship.

I have always felt that any business or customer service oriented organization is built by providing superb and quality customer service, during the sale and more importantly, after...and that only happens one customer at a time.

Lastly, as a recently retired from the military as a more than 22 year veteran, I can tell you that this crew, from the top down, have an affinity and true love for their nations fighting men and women. That extra touch they give, is never expected, but is always appreciated, and makes you feel truly special.

Thank you for all you do, gentlemen, and never change who you are.

I am strongly recommending R&D Motors!! I am somewhat of a used car conoseur and could not be more grateful for Rob and his team at R&D. They were a delight to work with, allowing me to keep a car overnight to have a buyers check performed.

Their selection of vehicles is exquisitely chosen with most only having one owner. Every employee I worked with was very friendly, the owner, Rob being the easiest to speak with. They never pressured me into anything and explained everything patiently and thoroughly.

If you are in the market for a used car, check these guys out. They will make it worth your time!!

Huge thanks to Rosie and all the crew at R&D Motors!!
They went over and above what was required to sell us a quality pre-owned vehicle, going so far as to provide us a loaner car while our vehicle was being prepared for us.
We came to South Lamar all the way from Georgetown and were very pleased and surprised with their selection, price, and service.
Highly recommended, and they will be our first visit when choosing our next pre-owned car.

Rob and the staff at R&D Motors are amazing. I bought a beautiful Mercedes ML350 with an interior that looked brand new. We spent less than an hour working through the paperwork which is a serious perk with kids. I highly recommend you stop by if you need a vehicle. You won't be disappointed.

I recently purchased an older Plymouth Voyager, 1998 from R&D. The carfax showed it to be a one owner vehicle. It was garage kept and very well maintained. It was the mythical little old lady vehicle. It only had 64K miles on it. Everything in it is like brand new. I was a mechanic for years, owning my own shop for several years before going back to college to get my engineering degree. I expressed concern over the age of the vehicle and the lack of miles could mean the seals might be dried up. Mike allowed me to take the vehicle over the weekend for an extended test drive. As I feared there was some oil dripping, brand new oil as they'd changed it. I discussed it with my mechanic and expressed some concern over the leak and the timing belt was due for a change at 60K miles. Just the timing belt would be $650. I took it back on Monday fully expecting to give it back to them. Mike had told me on the phone, we don't sell cars that leak oil. I talked to Rosie when I arrived. She picked up the phone called the owner of R&D and he approved replacing the seal and the timing belt and water pump since it is driven by the timing belt just better to do them at the same time. I received regular calls through the week from Mike and Rosie, with updates. When I got the Voyager back, they had replaced all the seals, crankshaft seal, cam seals, timing belt, water pump, valve cover gaskets and even a fuel line that wasn't leaking, the mechanic just said he didn't like the looks of it. This was a major job, I know, did I mention I was a professional dealership trained mechanic. All for no charge. I've waited a week of driving the vehicle and took it back to my, very trusted, mechanic. He gave it the once over and told me that I'd hit a home run on this one. I couldn't be happier. I was given the VIP treatment through the entire transaction. These are some really great folks. I saw the negative reviews from years ago. I don't know anything about what was going on back then but everyone at R&D was the consummate professional with great people skills and providing a wonderful customer experience.

Although we ended up going with another dealership, it wasn't because of dislike of this place. They were straightforward with their pricing, inventory, and what they honestly thought about the car. Nice cars, friendly service.. Mike over at the "south" location helped us out. I would suggest that guy
