The WORST Internet provider I've ever had. It's at a point where it's barely faster then dial up for this past 2 months. Seriously feels like I'm getting scammed. Internet drops every 20 to 30 minutes and takes about 10 more minutes to come back up. There is nothing wrong with my router (nighthawk). Sick of the bs service.

This the worst internet service ever provided. I can’t finish a single episode of anything without having to wait or reset the router. This company is a joke and should be downgraded to a triple “F” rating! Hopefully there is a better internet provider that will cut you out completely. You suck.

They purposely got rid of their lower priced, slower speed option. They have a monopoly in the area and charge ~$85 per month for anemic service. Customer service is abysmal if you can get in contact with anyone.

This is the most frustrating, unreliable company I have ever dealt with. And the first time I have ever posted a negative review in my life! I actually have had a lot of dealings with tech support (these guys have been helpful but the problem is never solved). I have told them repeatedly that if the problem is on my end I WILL PAY OR FIX IT! I am enrolled in my last year of college and everything is on-line, I've had it freeze on me numerous times but yesterday it "browned out" during a TEST but somehow let me submit it, but I went over time because it froze my computer and I lost points! Otelco may as well be dial up but they charge like we have high speed Wi-Fi. Where is all my money going?! I've been paying them for years and still had bad service, especially recently. Avoid them if you can but they have some kind of shady contract that forces me to use them. They certainly aren't upgrading the system. It's ridiculous. Wish I could give them negative stars. Again, tech support tries to help but good luck getting a prompt service call.

Service constantly goes out, is overpriced and we never have the internet speed we pay for. Not that this will help, they are the only service available. This company takes advantage of the community. Lousy services at exorbitantly high prices.
Update 3 months later
Once again I am on hold for support. 43 minutes 27 seconds so far. Basically, if a mosquito sneezes within a mile of their lines or equipment the service gos out. Its Friday night and they continue to tell me to leave a message and they will call back during business hours, two and a half days from now.
In any other place they would have been out of business for treating customers this way. Who did these people pay off to have a monopoly on service in this area? Up to 47 minutes......

The facts I am having to pay 86$ a month for 15 mbps is really messed up. And the fact I’ve been without wifi for 4 days now and getting someone out here to fix it is nearly impossible. If you can get with another wifi provider do so. I’ve had nothing but problems from this company.

Otelco is by far the worst ISP I have ever used. Unfortunately they have monopolized the area I live so they have no competition. Not once in 14 years have I gotten more than 9mbs though my plan states 12. $80 for inconsistent 9mbs service? I have been told multiple times in the last 3 years that fiber or fiber like service would be coming to my area but still nothing, meanwhile it has been announced that they are putting fiber in the Gadsden and Attalla area which has multiple choices for an ISP. How about you take care of your existing customers? Comcast, AT&T or someone please come to our rescue.

After about 2.5-3 years of living here and playing games on pc and console I have never seen speeds over 15 Mbps for download and around 1.7Mbps for upload. This internet IS NOT sufficient for downloading games or gaming. I am constantly running into issues with the connection speeds. We pay for over 20+ Mbps upload and download speeds but we never get that. I use a wired connection on my computer because when I try to use wireless I have connection issues and can't get over 1 Mbps download speed. Overall they are a monopoly and they aren't even a good one at that. I don't recommend paying for their services it would be much cheaper to just go to charter and ask them to give you internet instead. They will say that you can't get it in this area but that's not true.
