This is a very rare shop these days. Sure they sell new things like earbuds and chargers but they had some cool vintage equipment. But let's be honest here, the owner looks like a hoarder but he's got cool stuff for sale. Ylhe is obviously not a spring chicken, but, more like the Yoda master. He has all the knowledge in the world about electronics. I'm sure all the tourists and some of the locals probably expect him to bend over backwards to kiss their hiney just because they're buying a charger head. He was good with me browsing a little bit, and I told him I was into vintage electronic test equipment he pointed a couple things. He actually had an RCA tube that I needed. He made sure two or three times that it was what I wanted and he gave me a fair deal. Stores like this are extremely hard to find, so when you do you got to cherish it! Wish I just spent more time there maybe picking up a couple other items.

A little cluttered, but after loosing Juneau Electronics I'm glad Hy-Tech downtown is still in business downtown.
I'm not sure why others have had the experience they say they have, been going to this store off and on for years and the owner has always been helpful and often has EXACTLY what we need; no matter how obscure the plug in, converter, or piece is. One time he even helped split and label the wires for us and showed us how to hook up a 12volt wall plug in to to somthing that was originally made to be directly plugged into a car! Extremely kind with helping us on that!
It's one of those places that in some ways has a little old town Juneau charm to it a bit - place is messy but owner seems to somehow know where everything is and has always been fair with us.
Just in some ways it's a junk store, which makes it a great treasure trove - be patient, ask questions, and enjoy digging! Again, I think he's one of the last places in Juneau you'll be able to find obscure electronics to a random assortment of newish things

Used electronics store had what I needed when no one else in town did. Fair price. Great selection. Interesting customer service.

Someone else wrote that they had a whole word document for a review because they reached the word limit. Honestly that's what made me want to go and I'd love to read it.

Today was an odd day as me and my best friend visited the store around lunch time (a horrible time to visit I am aware but I did call ahead of time and confirm the store had an item that I was seeking).
Sadly the store owner treated me and my best friend disrespectfully and spitefully, thus I will not be visiting this store, or buy from online, again.
This review box has a max length so I can not go into much detail but I have typed up my details into a Word document and will be keeping it handy.
If you have read the other reviews on this store then you will know by now to be CAREFUL AND CAUTIOUS when going into/around this store.
Be Safe everyone and Try to Have Fun!

The owner is extremely unpleasant, rude and not very knowledgeable. Likely the most stubborn old man I've ever met. Went in for a simple auxiliary adapter and he proceeded to yell at me, tell me I have no clue what I'm talking about and to never bring a Motorola UHF radio into his store ever again. I wouldn't shop here if it was the last store on earth. Would not recommend to even my worst enemy. This man needs Jesus.

I'll level with you. The place is cluttered and appears (with careful observation) to be semi-organized in a way only Jim (the owner) seems to know where things are. If you're a big 6'3 guy like me, you'll worry about knocking things over.

If you need some weird electronic contraption you'd only order online, this guy probably has it right there. This is my second time in his store as I live out of region and the first time I went a year ago, he had an obscure portable digital shortwave radio I was looking for. On a lark, I went back in today to ask about an external shortwave antenna and had a handful to choose from which is weird for any brick and mortar store to have. Has a great selection of portable Bluetooth speakers which he let me try out before buying.

If you're an electronics enthusiast and need that weird odd or end, a car stereo, or just a Bluetooth speaker, Jim appears to be very knowledgeable and his prices are fair. Yes, it looks like an episode of Hoarders in there and expect digging to happen to find anything, so for that I dinged it a star because I always felt like I was going to knock something over.

If you're looking for Best Buy level super smiley customer service, go elsewhere. You'll be dissatisfied here. If you can take a hoard and less than average people skills in exchange for knowledgeable service, you'll be fine.

This owner VERY rude and unprofessional. Sold me bad iPhone headphones that DONT work suppose to be brand new. I work for a cruise company and tried to exchange them , the store closed 40 minutes earlier than listed. Called emergency number and he screamed at me like I did not know how to work headphones in 2023. DO NOT shop here !!!!!

My wife and I were walking past the store during lunch today and noticed a small bird trapped against the front window. We went inside to kindly let him know that there was a bird trapped near the window. The owner replied, in a smart ass kind of way, that he "doesn't have a bird trapped and that the bird willingly came in and is about to leave." Then he goes on to tell us that "Juneau has an assortment of birds that fly at low levels and that his happens to all businesses downtown." To me a "thank you, I'll take care of it" would have sufficed.

Other than that, good luck getting around in the store. There is so much clutter and nothing is organized. Most of the electronics in the store are obsolete...nothing really "Hi Tech" about anything in there. I suppose if you are looking for "old tech" it would be a good spot, but then you'd have to deal with the rude owner.

In short...I would stay away from this joke of a "Hi Tech" place.
