GVEC provide our electricity for seven years, including during the deadly freeze in 2021. We were never without power other than the rolling brown outs of 20 minutes or so and our rates went up eventually, but not excessively.
It's easy to track your usage and compare it over the year and year to year; customer service personnel are efficient and pleasant; and rates were lower than the competitors when I signed up and when we left. They also alert customers to outages and expected times to repair.
They were also easy to deal with when we had solar installed.

Unfortunately GVEC is the only electric service provider out here otherwise I would go with another company. Beware of the fine print on the auto pay... they WILL disconnect your service EVEN if enrolled in auto pay if there is any kind of balance on your account. They won't apply the balance to the auto pay. They will disconnect and be sure to charge you 100.00 for a reconnect. Terrible policy towards its customers.

Needed to replace our second story AC unit and GVEC had the best price and were able to offer great financing. We agreed to move forward with Larry's quote on Tuesday and Jason and George showed up first thing Thursday morning of that same week. The installation went very smoothly and they completed the work ahead of schedule. Larry, Jason and George were all very professional and made this process easy. Great job team GVEC!

I’ve honestly never had to write a bad review for anybody, But I gotta say that this is a money hungry and a very greedy Company, The customer service is OK, but that’s pretty much all they have, They’re quick to shut off your power Then charge you $100-$125 just to press a button to turn it back on They overcharge on electric. I’ve literally ran my heat in my house only twice through the really cold days this year And I still had bills over two to $300, but let’s be glad that the CEO’s pockets are getting fat He must be very proud. This company is trash and overpriced. I tell people not to move in my area just for this fact. Sad part is is they know it? And it’s not like I can choose another company when I’m dissatisfied with this one And they’re more than happy to take advantage that fact, you and your hard earned money

The customer service was great and they were very professional; but, I really didn't understand why I had to pay a $300 deposit when I have never been late on my electric and I have immaculate credit for my utilities. That $300 deposit hurt because moving is expensive, I could understand $100, $125, or $150 but $300 is a lot. And then to add insult to injury, they're saying that I'm not going to get my deposit credited for a year. I think 6 months is enough time to show that someone has a good pattern of payment, this seems very excessive and I'm very upset.

And I know your generic response is going to be that "our company runs credit as an indicator of the ability to pay to ensure that we protect ourselves if there is non-payment." But the interesting thing is that I've had some very positive events happen within my personal credit so this seems very insulting.

Firstly, I have never written a negative review for any service or product. That said, if there was an option to leave negative stars, I would. 18 months ago we paid more than $14,000 dollars for a new A/C. An enormous out of pocket expense and investment. The unit failed for the first time a few months later on the FIRST day of warm weather. The technician that came out, who was a field manager, told us that he was embarrassed by how terribly it was installed–"completely incorrect installation–and needs to be totally rebuilt" were his words–later GVEC said he was incorrect in his assessment and refused to redo any of the work. At this point, the unit has failed 5 or 6 times and for various reasons; failed parts, filled up with water, electrical failure, installation issues, etc. At this point we have spent weeks without a working A/C in the Texas heat. We would have been much better off just using the 15 year old broken unit that was installed before.

This was been the single worst consumer experience of my life. We are seeking legal action, since GVEC does not stand behind their work or products sold. We even paid for service plan and warranty, but that has made little difference. I would only trust small independently owned companies from now on. These big behemoth companies only want to make the sell and then do as little as possible for the customer once the check is written.

Abraham Gonzalez was the kind tech that came out to fix my AC unit. He diagnosed the issue, thoroughly explained the issue and repair process, ordered and received the parts in a timely manner. He also installed window units for us while we waited for the parts to come in. Thank you Abraham for the exceptional customer service experience.
