I'm making a review for my friend who lives with me now because she won't. She hated it. Staff seem to be caught up in their own personal issues and seem to take their anger out in the form of grounding kids because they're too soft with their own feelings from what I've heard. Rules seem stupid from what I've heard from 2 people who went there.

The childrens home helped me allot when I needed a place to stay while I finished highschool in the 18+ program. My parents abandoned me when I was 17 and i dealt with allot of abuse and neglect previously. As such I had very bad anxiety and PTSD and I didn't know allot of basic skills and needed help. Their school was amazing and gave me allot of experiences I'd never give up however the adults facility offered me very little besides a roof over my head. The staff was terrible to me they constantly bullied me and installed a constant fear of becoming homeless by consistently threatening to kick me out over even the smallest of mistakes. One of the staff members hates me and she made it widely known she would consistently tell me to shut up said I talked to much even when I was talking to my friends within the house. Punished me any chance she got and did her best to get me kicked out. I became so fearful of the staff that I hid in my room then I was chastised for not being friendly enough and told I was rude for not saying hello to staff. When I made the smallest mistake I was taken into a tiny office with 3-4 staff members who would all yell at me and tell me how horrible I was for whatever reason. The boys in the house bullied me (even so much as telling me to kill myself publicly) and when I spoke up about it I was punished. Then when I moved out I was gone for a week and came back to get my stuff and they tried to charge me for not doing my chores in the house despite the fact that I had moved out. I give the childrens home 2 stars only because it was slightly better than being on the street

I tried to hang myself in the shower the night before my 17th birthday 3 years ago at fumch. Luckily I couldn't jump off the chair hard enough to break my neck and I was able to pull my self back on the chair. But this place doesn't care about your kids.

Great place. It had its ups and downs. I learned a great deal here and I had 2 really great house parents. I was placed here 02”-04” . They really took good care of us. Kids run away all of the time so it’s nothing new here. I agree with the other comment it’s not the campuses fault. Very fond memories staying at the children’s home and I was lucky and fortunate enough to have this as a emergency placement for myself.

My first year at this home was smooth and nice, they helped me graduate high school and more. But my second year here, they moved me In a retreat with 2 other roommates and I was cool with that until 1 of the roommates kept stealing from me and being petty. I kept on informing staff at the home and they did nothing. But when I got arrested they finally want to do something. For 6 months, I was dealing with a court case and I couldn't get a job anywhere. The staff kept complaining about me not having a job even though I would have If they got rid of the roommate earlier. Then I had a medical condition In between the time and couldn't drive. But they wouldn't even give me rides to where I needed. so they wanna get mad at me because I had people to take me where I needed to go. So they decided to kick me out while I had the medical condition.

The home overall is a great place but most of the staff there are horrible. Once Lee Bennett came around, this place (18 and older program) turned completely upside down.

What a wonderful God filled home for troubled children. Our church supports their mission. I have had many site visits and fully support their mission. Shame on each of the negative views for those that have NOT visited or researched their mission. The county “dumped” children there. It is a group home, NOT a jail. Do your research! It is a non profit and they depend on donations. People work here out of love. Every year they hold an open house for anyone to walk through and learn their mission! I encourage each of you to do so before giving a bad review if you have never seen/visited/researched the home!

I grew up there. It basically changed my life. I loved it. They have everything a kid needs (including discipline lol). Yes, they might have kids who run away and get into their own situations but why is it the campus’ fault? Its not. Its the kids that decide to run away. Because if they didn’t, those two kids wouldnt be in their situation right now would they? Yeah. It was awesome. Definitely 5 stars!

I am shocked by what I am reading .. I had a life changing experience when I was a teenager. Mom and Pop Earhart were fantastic. Jan Lucas (May she rest in peace) was the secretary and she cared so much — helped me out of my teenage funk.
God Bless
