The whole experience was easy and very professional. I felt well informed about what was going on and not at all rushed. My blood work came back in the normal range for the heart study criteria so I was not a candidate for the rest of the actual study. That is a good thing right! I have no doubt that had I went through more of the process I would have been taken care of the whole way through. They want to improve lives and that shows from the start.

Update (1/31/2023)

Dropping my review back to one star. Shortly after submitting my review and complaints, Care Access began getting lots of five star reviews, all at the same time (about 1-3 weeks) and mostly from users who have almost no other reviews. From a cursory glance, these have all the hallmarks of fake or fraudulent reviews. It's a dubious practice, and it further diminishes my trust in this organization.

Update (1/16/2023)

I received the properly activated ClinCard with the correct compensation, as well as a follow up call from a customer service rep to check in on the status of my complaint.

I've upgraded my review to three stars because I am satisfied with the outcome of my complaint. With that said, the whole experience could have been avoided if staff had been appropriately trained. I don't fault the folks at the site doing their best, but rather the staff responsible for coordinating the site who did not give their front-line people the information and training to be successful.

Update (1/10/2023):

I was contacted by a rep about three weeks ago and informed I'd be getting a new ClinCard (the prepaid debit card Care Access uses to issue study compensation). The new card has yet to arrive.

Today I received notification that my ClinCard has been loaded with $50. I checked the ClinCard I was originally issued, and it still has not been activated. So I am assuming the $50 is on the card that has not yet arrived.

I called ClinCard to ask about this, and there is no way to get a customer service representative on the phone.

I will update this review when I have more information to share.

Original Post:

I participated in a Lyme Disease Clinical Trial in Vermont. After passing the phone screening and arriving for an hour-and-a-half initial appointment (including drawing three vials of blood), I was deemed ineligible.

The reasons for this low review:

The person taking my medical history did not seem qualified. I asked whether I could receive other vaccinations while participating in this trial, and the person advised me that I couldn't take corticosteroids, which is not what I asked.

They issued a $50 prepaid debit card as compensation for the study, but did not activate the card. It has been over two weeks since my initial visit, and I have emailed and called multiple times, but no one has gotten back to me.

All that is to say: they were disorganized, some of the staff seemed inadequately trained, and they did not follow through on compensation.

I think the aim of this trail (clinical trials of a Lyme vaccine) are great, but the execution is poor.
