I was specifically looking for a lawyer who specialized in juvenile defense after my 14 year old nephew got in trouble. I contacted Mr. Hernandez after coming across his name on the internet, left him a voicemail and he called me right back within 10 minutes...Mr. Hernandez patiently listened as I explained the situation and he told me that he personally knew the public defender tasked to represent my nephew. Michael explained that if he were to take on the case, it may create an appearance of ethical conflict since his lawyer wife, also a public defender, works alongside the lawyer representing my nephew. Because of the perceived ethical conflict, Michael did not feel comfortable representing my nephew but offered to be an advisor on the case, gratis!

Being that he would not be compensated, I did not expect much out of Michael. But boy was I wrong! Michael went above and beyond, my expectation. He recommended that we continue with the public defender assigned to the case and assured me that this gentlemen was a very good lawyer and that he would provide more than an adequate defense. At my request, Michael spoke with a number of people and spent a few hours discussing our case with them and he assured me that my nephew's case was in good hands and that I should not worry. And he did all this without asking for ANY compensation. Michael's show of honest empathy during this very challenging time for my family has restored my confidence in humanity in general, and lawyers in particular. In the area of juvenile defense, Michael is, without any doubt, a shining beacon and I would strongly recommend him to anyone looking for good legal representation.
