I'm a Franklin D Roosevelt researcher, when I came I asked the guard if I could look for a little and take a couple pictures of the first room and she said yes, I took a photo and then she told me "no more pictures" and told us to leave. Every place associated with Roosevelt besides this has had Some of the friendliest and most welcoming people.

I heard about this place because it was a wedding present from Sara Delano Roosevelt (FDR's mother) to her son Franklin and Eleanor. I'm glad that this place was restored to reflect where FDR made important and historic decisions that helped this country.

One of New York City's hidden gems. A magnificent property which was owned and occupied by members of the Roosevelt family for almost half a century and is still in use by Hunter College and a Policy Studies Institute. At time of writing guided tours are only available on Saturdays, for individuals and small groups, and Fridays, for larger groups. Pre-booking is recommended because otherwise availability is not guaranteed. Tours, guided by well-informed staff, provide fascinating insights into FDR and Eleanor's campaigns and lives before, during and after the time they owned the property. Well worth taking the trouble to make a reservation and take the tour.
