Reluctant Windows/MS Office user. Mac is not an option. No getting off this train. No Microsoft tech support. Northbay to the rescue. Real human beings in a real brick and mortar shop.
They tweak and twerk this infuriating box, slap it in the face, throw water on it, mouth to mouth reccesitation. Frankenstein rises from the dead. Crucial data files rescued. They school me in backup, train me a bit of os and other stuff. Northbay is highly ethical. What do they gain from schooling me in backup so I don't need them to rescue me? What do they gain telling me not to fix my computer when it's cheaper to buy new. This standard of ethics must have been expensive to maintain as the cost of tech plummeted. They are still here years later. Same people, same shop. I have no affiliation to any of them. I am just very grateful. It appears that they recycle, good for the planet, good for me. Glad they are still here.

EDIT: just downgraded from 4 to 3 stars. Was just charged $275 for a Windows10 upgrade re-installation, plus a malware sweep and some driver updates. Northbay has seemingly gone from expensive to gouging. Their in-store hourly labor rate also went up from $90 to $110--in nine months.

Have been taking both my PC desktops and laptops to them for over four years now. They're quick, effective, courteous--and quite expensive.

Which is why I've given them only 4 stars. Their growing popularity has caused them to sharply raise their prices in the last two years.

Consider them a quality and utterly reliable--but premium priced--local repair service when you don't want to schlepp your hardware into the city.

Great experience. Needed a bulging laptop battery replaced. John also cleaned up all the nonsense on the machine. Very quick service at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

These techs are outstanding! My computer was taking forever to load programs and the internet. They diagnosed a sub-par hard drive and replaced it with a new solid-state drive onto which they'd copied all my data and programs, all within the same day!

I have gone to Northbay Computers on three separate occasions. Each time, they quickly diagnosed the problem (failed hard drive twice, and failed video card once). They had all the parts to get me back up and running, and when the disks gave out they salvaged and transferred the data. Don't hesitate to go here with your computer issues.

John and the group at NBCS are great. John went the extra mile to keep our business up and running after our IT guy tragically died. It was an awful way to need a new IT introduction but a great decision for the long run. Thanks John
