With all the hype and the long queues that we had seen at Mother's during our last New Orleans visit, we decided it was time to hit this spot.
We were here on a Friday night after a long 9 hour drive to New Orleans.
Maybe because it was 9pm, there was absolutely no queue which pleasantly surprised us.
We ordered the Mae's Filé Gumbo, Jambalaya and a Bread Pudding.
The gumbo was a failure, sadly. It lacked flavour and just wasn't that good. Maybe the Seafood Gumbo might have been a better option.
The Jambalaya was not as bad but still not as good as some of the other restaurants in the French Quarter.
The Bread Pudding basically made up for all the deficiencies, and it hit the spot 💯. Easily one the best bread puddings we have had.
Overall, this restaurant did not live up to the hype.
⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐, only because the Bread Pudding saved the day!

It is great food. The debris was amazing. It was juicy and even though I only had the half sandwich, it was plenty. I also had the fries, no seasoning on them, but they were great.
When you enter the restaurant you get a menu and decide what you want to order, then you get in line. First timer here so I didn’t really get the system so I asked a gentleman who was wearing a mother’s t-shirt. He explained. I ordered, the lady at the register was not pleasant. She was more concerned about her phone than taking my order. I sat at a table and the same young man who I asked the system to, came and told he he would take care of me. He saw the ticket number and after about 20 mins I got my food. The line was long, but the food was coming out hot and tasty.
The restaurant was clean and they even smelled clean. Was it impeccable? No, but it is modern and spacious. I would definitely come back. Come with friends, there is plenty of seating available.

Not worth the 40min wait, but at least sunny day to be in line outside. Very nicely poached egg, slightly dry fried ham, bland debris, decent biscuit. Surprise was the really good homemade hot sauce on table. Woke up the cheese grits nicely. Excellent blackberry jam. Friendly staff, just takes forever for line to move.

This place is no fuss service, place your order first at the register and pay. You're given your receipt and after picking a table, one of the servers in the area you seat will get your ticket and serve the food and drinks to you. We were quite surprised there was no line at all on a Sunday afternoon, and one of the dining rooms was completely empty!

Love everything that was on the sampler plate - the etoufee was amazing, the red beans were delicious, jambalaya was a tad salty but still good and the green beans were splendid. I wanted to get fried chicken but was too stuffed! My husband got the po boy and enjoyed his as well.

We were visiting New Orleans recently. We had heard you must visit Mother’s Restaurant for breakfast. We did. Oh my. It was good. 😊 they have been in business along time in New Orleans. They are a staple in the community. Their ham is legendary I’m told. It was so good. Cheese grits & eggs & giant biscuits were served with the ham. The biscuits were huge! You get in line to order & then they bring your plate to you. They have multiple dining rooms so plenty of seating room. Visit the next time you are close. It’s a tradition!

This was the very first foodie stop we made, thanks to a local Uber driver. The best thing about this spot was the table. Our group was about 8 people deep and we were able to all sit at one table. The food I ordered was the shrimp & grits with a brownie. It tasted great but a bit too tomato-ey for my liking. I was actually wanting to order the gumbo, but we were informed they were only serving breakfast.

I went to this iconic NOLA place with a friend. The place was crowded with mostly tourists and conference visitors. The ambiance of the place takes you far back into the history of the American South. However, the food was pretty average, we got a half and a full Po Boy, the bread was a bit stiff and the pulled turkey breast inside was not very juicy. The Po Boy came with a side of Jus De Beef which is light and delicious. Overall a nice experience and a very student-friendly price range.
