Very disappointing. There are no artifacts. All artifacts have been removed by the University of Alabama diversity dept. Signs say the hey were returned to native American tribes but signs also say they do not know what tribes lived here or created the mounds. Save your $8 admission.

This is a nice museum. The painting around the walls shows what Moundville looked like at its height of power. Sadly, with the repatriation of artifacts the museum has maybe 5 artifacts on display. Walk in and look at the paintings on the wall and read the signs, then visit the gift shop and go up on a mound and look over the area....that is worth the visit...not the artifacts.

Small, but nice little unexpected museum to visit while visiting the mounds in Moundsville. A few displays, historical plaques, nice gift shop, and small snack bar. Part of the price of park admission, which does offer military and seniors discounts. As I told a friend, it isn't the Smithsonian, but it was nice to visit with a great staff.

The museum gave all the artifacts related to burial rites to the descendants of the Native Americans tribes in the area. Unfortunately that was 99% of the items on display so the museum is basically empty. Even the Rattlesnake Disk is a replica. They should just close the museum until they figure out what will be displayed.

This place is worth visiting, for sure! Make sure to hit the trails, climb the mounds, and just feel how special the area is. Also, kudos to the museum for the repatriation of so many artifacts! But there are still some neat vessels and tools to see.

Wonderful, educational, informative museum. Well worth the visit.

Quiet, secluded, well kept, under-utilized campground (reasonable rates)
